aka hexahydrocannabinol
HHC (hexahydrocannabinol) is a hydrogenated form of THC. It is naturally present in trace amounts in hemp but is commercially produced by hydrogenating Delta-8 or Delta-9 THC. HHC produces effects similar to THC at slightly reduced potency. HHC is federally legal as a hemp derivative but has been banned in some states and the EU.
Example: HHC was big in 2022-2023 before THCA replaced it as the dominant hemp psychoactive.
Etymology: Identified in the 1940s by Roger Adams; commercialized in hemp products post-2018.
